UCSD Hearts & Hands Volunteer Doula Program

A doula is a birth assistant which helps a woman with emotional support during childbirth. While doulas are not typically doctors or nurses, they can help ease the stress and even pain associated with birth. At the UCSD Hearts & Hands Volunteer Doula Program, volunteers support women, who might not be able to afford that type of individual care, in every step of their birth.
